Taichi "Tai" Kamiya (八神 太一) is the main character in Digimon Adventures.

Begins0009

However he is a supporting Character in Digimon Adventures 02. He is the older brother of Kari Kamiya, and he can also be very over protective of her. His Digimon Partner is Agumon (Adventure). In the Japanese version, his name is Taichi Yagami. He also bears the Crest of Courage.

Background

In the year of 1995, Tai Kamiya lives with his father Susumu Kamiya, his mother Yuuko Kamiya, his little sister Kari Kamiya, and their black pet cat Miko in Highton View Terrace. He and Kari had receive a Digi-Egg, which eventually hatches into Botamon. Botamon digivolves quickly to Koromon, becoming their first experience with Digimon. Both Tai and Kari become friends with Koromon before he digivolves into BigAgumon and takes Kari on a ride, while Tai desperately follows after them to make sure that Kari is alright. Agumon then digivolves in to RedGreymon to protect them from Parrotmon at Highton View Terrace, though he is sadly beaten. Using Kari's whistle, Tai manages to revive RedGreymon long enough for both him and Parrotmon to destroy each other. This event leads to Tai being chosen as one of the seven DigiDestined, something that they theorize once they return to the scene in Return to Highton View Terrace, and it is confirmed by a separate entity who possesses Kari.

When Kari is about four or five years old, she gets the disease known as pneumonia, and Tai, while not realizing the harsh severity of her illness, takes her outside to play at the park. However his little sister had collapsed while playing soccer with him and is taken to the hospital. His mother gets very upset upon learning about this and she slaps his face after Kari was in the hospital. Tai also relives these painful memories when Kari gets sick once more while he is facing the Dark Masters.

Personality

He is characterized as being a happy go lucky, adventurous, but naïve type of young boy character who wears a set of goggles, a characteristic that would eventually become shared among the leaders of the different various DigiDestined in Digimon.

As a brash person, he often acts on being impulse without realizing the consequences of his actions. This leads him to moments of friction and extreme guilt between his best friend and rival Matt, his oldest friend Sora Takenouchi, as well as his Digimon partner Agumon. As a true leader, he manages to do whatever is necessary to rectify the tough situation, and in times of need, he save his friends and family from certain doom. He is the bearer of the Crest of Courage.

In Digimon Adventure tri., Tai's usual focus on the "big picture" leads him to become more cautious about battling after seeing the destruction caused by the Digimon's battles, and his resolve falters against the risk of collateral damage. When it becomes clear that Digimon like Alphamon will only cause more damage if they aren't stopped, Tai makes the decision to fight against them, but he still remains uneager to battle.

Abilities

Digimon Adventure (Anime)

Mysterious climate changes occur around the world, including a blizzard that falls overnight in July at a summer camp in Japan. Seven children at the camp—Tai, Sora, Matt, Izzy, Mimi, T.K., and Joe—are each given a Digivice that falls from an aurora in the sky, and are all swept off by a wave into the Digital World. They are promptly greeted by seven creatures who call themselves Digimon, as well as the children's chosen partners. They are soon attacked by a Kuwagamon and attempt to hide in the forest. When the group is finally cornered on the edge of a cliff, the creatures Digivolve to defend themselves and their partners. However, Kuwagamon's attack causes the cliff to collapse, and the children and their Digimon fall towards the river below.

A school of fish catch the falling Chosen Children and their Digimon, and swim them to safety as Kuwagamon falls into the river as well. The group are taken to shore and attempt to determine their location and how to return home. Taichi's partner Agumon reveals that the children are the first human beings to arrive in the Digital World. Taichi leads the group toward the ocean, and they find non-functional telephone booths on the beach. As the group rest to determine their next plan of action, they are then attacked by a Shellmon. None of the Digimon except for Agumon has the strength to fight because they have not eaten. Taichi is captured by Shellmon, and at which point Agumon suddenly evolves into Greymon and throws Shellmon into the ocean.

The group then leave the beach and find themselves in the middle of a fight for territory between two Monochromon. They escape unharmed and, as the sky darkens across the Digital World, come across a trolleycar by a lake. They catch fish for dinner and decide to keep watch while staying overnight, but Taichi and Yamato argue over which of them should take the first rotation. During the first shift, Taichi accidentally awakens a Seadramon when he drops a burning stick on its tail. Seadramon pulls the trolleycar to the middle of the lake and attacks Yamato. His partner Gabumon immediately evolves into Garurumon and defeats Seadramon. Everyone in the group falls asleep after the fight.

As the group re-enter the forest, they see a black gear flying above. They soon reach a desert with standing utility poles, and Mimi's compass becomes ineffective due to the presence of metal in the sand. They discover a village of Yokomon in the middle of the desert, and Sora's partner Biyomon is questioned as to how it was able to evolve from Yokomon. They are taken to a nearby water spring but discover that the spring and its source aquifer have dried up and are ablaze with fire. Meramon, a fire Digimon enraged by the black gear that entered its body, descends from Miharashi Mountain at the edge of the desert and heads toward the village. As the group evacuate the Yokomon residents, Biyomon challenges Meramon but is no match for its power. Biyomon evolves into Birdramon and attacks Meramon from the air, releasing the black gear from inside its body. As a sign of gratitude for saving their village, the Yokomon invite the group for dinner, but the children discover they cannot eat the food.

The kids then stumble upon a strange factory, where they find an Andromon caught in some machinery. After they release Andromon, he attacks them. Izzy discovers strange coding, which he uses to evolve Tentomon to Kabuterimon. Kabuterimon then destroys the Black Gear controlling Andromon. Apologizing for his behavior, Andromon shows the children to the next area.

While escaping the Numemon who attacked the group in the sewers on their way out of the factory, the Chosen Children are split up. Mimi ends up in Toy Town after being attacked by a Monzaemon. There she finds the other kids acting strangely. Palmon manages to Digivolve to Togemon and destroys the Black Gear that was controlling Monzaemon, by returning the other children to normal as well.

Taichi and Yamato argue whether if they should climb Infinity Mountain. Joe and Gomamon decide to climb the mountain by themselves. While on the mountain, they are attacked by a Unimon. Taichi and Sora come to the rescue, and Gomamon evolves into Ikkakumon to save Joe from falling after Unimon bucked him off and destroy the Black Gear that was controlling Unimon.

The Chosen Children meet the ruler of File Island, Devimon, the controller of the Black Gears. He, along with Ogremon and a possessed Leomon, attacks the children, who manage to escape. They end up in a mysterious mansion which turns out to be an illusion created by Devimon. Devimon breaks File Island into multiple smaller islands and separates the kids on different islands. Devimon nearly gets Taichi, but the light emitted from Taichi's Digivice frees Leomon, who holds off Devimon to give Tai enough time to get away at the cost of being recaptured.

Taichi and Agumon land on a snow-covered island and are forced to defeat a Frigimon. After destroying the Black Gear that was controlling him using Taichi's soccer skills to get Agumon on Frigimon's back to get to it, they cross over to the island where Matt and Gabumon landed. Meanwhile, Yamato goes out to search for Takeru against Gabumon's advice and gets hypothermia. Once the two boys meet up, they end up fighting each other until a Mojyamon attacks them. Thanks to Frigimon feeding the Digimon, Agumon and Gabumon are able to digivolve. They defeat the Mojyamon and expel the Black Gear that was controlling him. Garurumon spots Black Gears behind a wall and blasts them, causing the island to move back towards Infinity Mountain.

Mimi and Palmon are harassed by Sukamon and Chuumon. After escaping them, they cross over to the next island, where Izzy and Tentomon landed. After they reunite, Mimi and Tentomon get lost in a labyrinth and are attacked by Centarumon. Izzy and Palmon finally find them and their Digimon battle and destroy Centarumon's Black Gear. After the battle, Leomon appears and attacks the children, but is driven back by the light of their Digivices.

Takeru and Patamon end up in Primary Village, the place where all Digimon are born. There, they are confronted by Elecmon, the guardian of the baby Digimon. He fights Patamon, by having to mistaken the two for intruders. To avoid a fight, T.K. proposes that they settle the dispute with a tug-o-war. Patamon wins and earns Elecmon's respect and trust.

The entire group reunites and is attacked by Leomon. After Leomon is defeated with the light of the Digivices, he tells the children about the prophecies of the "Chosen Children." The group goes to Infinity Mountain for the final showdown with Devimon. There, Devimon absorbs many Black Gears and Ogremon and grows in size and power, turning the fight in his favor. At the last moment Patamon finally Digivolves in to Angemon and turns the tide of the battle. He defeats Ogremon and absorbs power from the other Digimon to power up a final attack. Using all of his power in one Hand of Fate attack, Angemon finally destroys Devimon, but dies himself as he used up all of his energy. As Devimon dies, he taunts Angemon saying there are enemies even more powerful than him out there. Angemon dies, but is reborn as a Digiegg.

A mysterious person called Gennai appears as a hologram after the fight with Devimon and urges the group to travel to the Continent of Server in order to defeat another enemy, and tells them about objects called Crests that will allow their Digimon to Digivolve even further. They build a raft and leave File Island and are soon swallowed up by Whamon, who is still under the control of a Black Gear. Tai frees him with his Digivice, and Whamon reveals he knows where the Tags (necklaces that hold the Crests) are. He takes them to an undersea store where they're attacked by a Black Gear possessed Drimogimon. The kids search for the Tags while the Digimon take on Drimogimon. Kabuterimon destroys the Black Gear, freeing Drimogimon and the kids find the Tags. Now wearing the Tags, the kids set out on Whamon to travel to the Continent of Server.

The kids then arrive in a Koromon village overrun with Pagumon, who trick the kids and kidnap Tokomon. Etemon learns of the arrival of the DigiDestined and confronts them. He uses his Dark Network to prevent the Digimon from Digivolving and then traps the group inside of a cave, where they discover their first Crest, Tai's Crest of Courage.

While traveling in the desert, Joe's Tag react, leading the group into a Roman-like coliseum. There, they are trapped by Etemon and Greymon is forced to fight another Greymon. After Joe finds his Crest of Reliability, the group escapes, and Tai attempts to force Greymon to Digivolve. Greymon Digivolves into SkullGreymon and loses control of himself and attacks the others, who are unable to stop him. SkullGreymon eventually runs out of energy and reverts to Koromon and apologizes for his behavior.

After getting lost in the desert, the group is taken aboard a ship traveling in the desert that is headed by Kokatorimon. Kokatorimon captures all the boys and petrifies their partners. Biyomon and Palmon Digivolve and defeat him, and his ship crashes into a giant cactus. The top of the cactus then opens to reveal Mimi's Crest of Sincerity.

The group is then attacked by a Kuwagamon and Tai fails to Digivolve Agumon (due to the trauma both of them suffered from the SkullGreymon incident). Piximon intervenes and saves them. He then offers the group training at his facility, and leads Agumon and Tai into a cave while the others do manual labor. When Matt finds his Crest of Friendship and Izzy finds his Crest of Knowledge, they are spotted and attacked by Tyrannomon. Piximon holds him off, but doesn't defeat him as he wants Tai and Agumon to do it. Tai and Agumon return and Agumon digivolves to Greymon and defeats Tyrannomon.

The discovery of T.K.'s Crest of Hope reveals a cave engraved with Digi-code. Izzy receives an e-mail from Datamon asking for help from within Etemon's headquarters, a large upside down pyramid. Datamon promises them that if they free him, he will show them Sora's Crest. After he is freed, however, he escapes and kidnaps Sora. He intends to make a copy of her so that he can control Biyomon.

Tai manages to rescue Sora. Datamon pulls himself, Etemon and many of Etemon's minions directly into the Dark Network. When Etemon reappears, having fused with the network, Greymon Digivolves to MetalGreymon to fight him. The battle ends up opening a portal that sucks away Etemon and transports both Tai and Agumon back to Tokyo.

Tai and Koromon spend a couple hours in Tokyo and meet with Kari. They discover that Digimon are appearing randomly in the Real World and conclude that they must go back to the Digital World and help their friends. After Koromon Digivolves to Agumon to battle an Ogremon, a portal opens and transports both of them back to the Digital World. However, unseen to all but the audience, Kari possesses a Digivice too.

Tai and Agumon return to the Digital World to find Tokomon. Tokomon relays what has happened in the time (which is several weeks in DigiWorld time) they have been gone. He reveals that the entire group has break up and that DemiDevimon has tricked T.K. into becoming his "friend." T.K. realizes DemiDevimon's trickery after Agumon exposes him for a fraud thanks to some help from an unseen Sora. Tokomon finally Digivolves back to Patamon and drives DemiDevimon away. Tai decided to search the others and to reunite them back together to find the way back home.

Matt, Gabumon, Joe, and Gomamon are being forced to work at Digitamamon's diner to pay off a meal. DemiDevimon sets off a series of accidents that makes Matt question Joe's friendship. Matt overcomes his feeling when Joe is willing to sacrifice himself to save T.K. Matt's crest glows and Garurumon Digivolves to WereGarurumon and defeats Digitamamon. The team decided to split into two groups: Matt and Gabumon with T.K. and Patamon goes to the mountains while the other group: Tai and Agumon with Joe and Gomamon sails through the lake.

Izzy is trapped in Vademon's pocket dimension and robbed of his curiosity. Tentomon eventually De-Digivolves to Pabumon, but manages to snap Izzy out of his trance. DemiDevimon attempts to buy Izzy's crest from Vademon, and in the confusion, Izzy recovers his crest and his curiosity. Kabuterimon then Digivolves to MegaKabuterimon and defeats Vademon. Matt and the co. finds Izzy and continues to search for the others.

Joe, Tai and their partners find Mimi being treated like a princess at a palace so that she will wake up ShogunGekomon with her singing. However, Mimi has enjoyed being a princess too much and soon locks up her friends including Palmon when they try trick her into finally waking up ShogunGekomon. Mimi eventually suffers from nightmares that her friends including Palmon abandoned her realizes how terrible she has become when Sora appears to her and convinces her to sing and apologize before she woke up. Mimi gathered all of her friends and sing, however, when ShogunGekomon awakens, he attacks the kids. Palmon digivolves to Togemon to save Mimi and MetalGreymon manages to defeat ShogunGekomon and Mimi apologizes for her behavior.

The two groups reunite, but find that Sora has been avoiding them. When they find her, she tells them about the meanings of each of their crests, and how DemiDevimon told her that her life was loveless and thus her crest would never glow. Myotismon appears, and easily defeats the Digimon. When an injured Biyomon goes to help them, Sora's concern and love causes her crest to glow and allow Birdramon to digivolves into Garudamon and helps the group escape.

Gennai appears and tells them that there is an eighth DigiDestined and that Myotismon is planning to go to the Real World with an army of evil Digimon to find him/her. The kids infiltrate Myotismon's castle in an attempt to stop him from opening a gate that will allow him access to the Real World, but fail when Gatomon animates a series of Devidramon statues.

The group travels to Gennai's home, where he unravels some secrets about the Digital World. When the kids return to the castle to open the gate, they battle with Dokugumon and the castle is destroyed. However, they manage to open the gateway. WereGarurumon destroys Dokugumon and the kids make it through.

The Digidestined have a series of misadventures trying to get back to their homes in Odaiba. Eventually they end up getting a ride from Sora's cousin Duane, who later accidentally pushes Izzy off a bridge. Gesomon attacks and is defeated by Ikkakumon. Afterwards, Ikkakumon caries the kids home on his back.

At long last, the DigiDestined return to their homes. The 8th child's Digivice gets carried off by Kari's cat. The Digivice sets off a signal that brings in DemiDevimon, Raremon and Izzy. Kabuterimon manages to defeat Raremon but Izzy and Tentomon never manage to find the 8th child who is Kari.

The DigiDestined continue their search for the eight child. Gatomon crosses paths with Kari and wonders if she could be the eight child. Sora, Mimi, Tai, and Izzy battle SkullMeramon on Tokyo Tower. After a long battle, Greymon digivolves to MetalGreymon and destroys him while Kabuterimon saves the Tower. Meanwhile, Gatomon follows Kari back to her apartment and prepares to kill her, however, Kari already knows she was behind her and Gatomon had a strange feeling that she can't kill her because there was something that she could have notice, but instead she flees.

As the DigiDestined continue their search, Matt and T.K. run into Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon, two servants of Myotismon who are far more interested in having fun than helping Myotismon. When they refuse to destroy Matt and T.K., they are transported back to the Digital World to be punished by Myotismon and riling up the brothers in the process. Enraged by his actions, Gabumon digivolves to WereGarurumon to fight Myotismon but is no match for him. T.K's distress causes Patamon (who ran off after an argument) to digivolve to Angemon again and Angemon and WereGarurumon drive Myotismon off.

Wizardmon finds Kari's Digivice and brings Gatomon and Kari together. It is revealed that Kari is the eighth DigiDestined and that Gatomon is her partner. Gatomon and Wizardmon decide to get Kari's crest from Myotismon, but though they succeed with Wizardmon pocketing it in his cloak but this only leads to Gatomon's capture and the apparent death of Wizardmon.

Myotismon creates a barrier of fog around Odaiba and evil Digimon roam the streets. Bakemon and Phantomon begin taking people from their homes and holding them prisoner. Sora and Mimi get captured and try to plan an escape. Biyomon and Sora's mother come to her rescue, and Palmon Digivolves into Lillymon to defeat a minion DarkTyrannomon and hold off Myotismon. Sora is rescued from Phantomon by her mother and Biyomon digivolves to Birdramon to drive Phantomon off.

Myotismon uses Gatomon to try and identify the eight child after defeating Lilymon and seriously injuring her. Sora escapes on Birdramon with Lillymon, but everyone else including her mother and Mimi are recaptured. Tai leaves Kari with Matt while he goes rescue everyone, and Izzy heads to the TV station where the source of the fog barrier is and he and Tentomon are saved from being spotted by Matt and T.K.'s father. Meanwhile, Joe and T.K. travels back through Odaiba Bay and are attacked by MegaSeadramon while near the Rainbow Bridge after finding Wizardmon with Kari's crest in his possession. When Joe almost drowns, his crest glows and Ikkakumon Digivolves to Zudomon and defeats MegaSeadramon. After following Birdramon, Kari is found by Phantomon and gives herself up so that Matt and Sora are not harmed while Tai arrives at the Convention Center.

Tai and Agumon infiltrate the Convention Center where all of Myotismon's prisoners have been put into an enchanted sleep by DemiDevimon. Mimi's Crest wakes her up and she tries to escape. Meanwhile the Bakemon attack Tai and Agumon, but Agumon digivolves to Greymon and easily destroys them. The two then meet up with Mimi and make their way to the Fuji TV Station. There, the DigiDestined are reunited and after Wizardmon (who was rescued by Joe, T.K., Patamon and Zudomon from the bay) heals Lilymon, face off against Myotismon and Phantomon; however, Myotismon has apparently become more powerful as he easily neutralizes all of their attacks. The only digimon that does any damage is Angemon who destroys Phantomon and injures Myotismon with one hit due to his holy power, but even he's not powerful enough to destroy Myotismon. Myotismon tries to kill Kari and Gatomon but Wizardmon takes the hit and is mortally wounded. His death upsets Kari so much DemiDevimon drops her Digivice allowing Tai to retrieve it and give it to her. Kari's Digivice and Crest cause Gatomon to digivolve to Angewomon and everyone gives Angewomon their power in order to make her attack stronger. Angewomon destroys Myotismon with her Celestial Arrow powered up by everyone's energy, but the fog just gets thicker when it should dissipate with Myotismon's death.

An ancient DigiWorld prophecy comes true as Myotismon returns as VenomMyotismon who destroys DemiDevimon. Angemon and Angewomon, following the end of the prophecy, shoot Tai and Matt with their arrows of hope and light, allowing Agumon and Gabumon to Warp Digivolve into 'WarGreymon' and 'MetalGarurumon'.

WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon faces off against Myotismon but are no match for him. The other Digimon digivolve to Champion (except Angewomon who's an Ultimate) and attack VenomMyotismon together. Their attacks reveal a beast of some kind in VenomMyotismon's stomach and Tai figures that that's his weakness. The kids Crests hold VenomMyotismon down and WarGreymon tosses the TV station ball into the hole to keep it open. WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon concentrate their attacks on the beast in VenomMyotismon's stomach and it's destroyed, destroying VenomMyotismon. With his destruction, the fog clears revealing the Digital World in the sky. When a plane touches it, the wing freezes and breaks off but Garudamon saves it. The Digidestined realize that years have passed in the Digital World since their departure and realize something must've happened. Knowing they're the Digital World's only chance, the kids decide to return there with Kari joining them. Their parents, after some reluctance, give their blessings and the kids use their Digivices to open a portal to the Digital World and return through it.

As the DigiDestined return to the Digital World, they learn of the four Dark Masters who have taken it over. MetalSeadramon, Puppetmon, Machinedramon, and Piedmon are all mega level Digimon, and are more than a match for the DigiDestined. Piximon manages to save the children, although dying in the process.[Note 9]

The kids manage to escape MetalSeadramon's minion, Scorpiomon. They try to escape by sea but are immediately stopped by MetalSeadramon.

Just as the kids are about to be destroyed by MetalSeadramon, Whamon comes to their rescue and they flee to the bottom of the ocean. Unfortunately, MetalSeadramon and his Divermon allies chase them. Ultimately MetalSedramon catches up to them, and a battle begins. Agumon Warp Digivolves into WarGreymon but is nearly destroyed by MetalSeadramon. Also, the Divermon attack again after being washed away by Whamon, but Ikkakumon digivolves to Zudomon and easily destroys them.

Whamon saves WarGreymon by ramming him, but is mortally wounded by MetalSeadramon in response. WarGreymon, enraged, destroys MetalSeadramon with his Nova Force attack. Whamon succumbs to his wounds and dies, but begs the Digidestined to save the world. The kids then go into a forest were they are continually taunted by Puppetmon, using toys to move them around. He kidnaps T.K., who manages to demolish the toys Puppetmon was using to control the kids and escape. Matt leaves the group after his little brother returns.

Matt is tricked by Cherrymon, a minion of Puppetmon, into believing that Tai is his enemy. Meanwhile, Puppetmon's platoon of Garbagemon are handled by Lillymon and MetalGreymon. One survives and nearly gets them, but MetalGarurmon saves the day and destroys it, but demands a fight with WarGreymon.

Tension runs high as a fight breaks out between Matt and Tai as well as their respective partners. Suddenly, Kari's body is taken over by a strange entity, explaining why the children were chosen to save the DigiWorld in the first place. Matt leaves the group again. Joe and a distraught Mimi also leave.

Etemon returns as MetalEtemon to take revenge on the DigiDestined. Joe and Mimi rescue Ogremon who was injured when Woodmon attacked him. The others get inside of Puppetmon's mansion with the help of two of his 'playmates,' who keep Puppetmon at bay with his own cannon.

Leomon returns as SaberLeomon, and saves Joe and Mimi from MetalEtemon. He is later hurt by MetalEtemon when he attempts to save Mimi and is mortally wounded. An enraged Zudomon attacks MetalEtemon single-handedly and manages to crack his armor, allowing SaberLeomon to punch his claw through the hole, killing MetalEtemon. Leomon and Ogremon make peace with each other, before Leomon succumbs to his wounds and dies, Mimi (now regained her will to fight) and Joe decide to gather more reinforcements. Puppetmon faces the kids in battle, but after Garudamon destroys his hammer, runs and encounters Matt and MetalGarurumon. He tries to control MetalGarurumon and fails and MetalGarurumon blasts Pupetmon at point-blank range with his Metal Wolf Claw, mortally wounding him. Before Pupetmon dies, he asks Cherrymon what the kids have that he doesn't (something that Piximon mentioned too but never elaborated upon) and Cherrymon's spirit seems to reply: the kids have friends. Pupetmon dies and his section of Spiral Mountain dissolves. Sora runs into Matt and thanks him, but Matt just walks off and leaves again.

Kari falls ill, and Tai becomes nearly hysterical in his attempts to help her. Machinedramon attacks them in a mechanical city under his control, and the group is separated. Tai and Izzy try to retrieve medicine for Kari and come under repeated attack, finally escaping on MetalGreymon while T.K. and Sora are left to watch over Kari. Tai and Izzy return and are nearly killed by a Megadramon, but Angemon saves them. Unfortunately Machinedramon himself shows up and casts the kids into the sewers, separating them again.

Kari recovers, and, along with Sora and T.K., begins searching for the others. They run into WaruMonzaemon, and Kari frees the Numemon he has enslaved, who then begin calling her "Queen". Kari's Crest re-energizes Biyomon and Gatomon (all of the Digimon have no energy to digivolve at this point) and they drive WaruMonzeamon off and he's destroyed by Machinedramon for his failure. Andromon (the same one from File Island, encountered by Tai and Izzy) battles with Machinedramon, and the Numemon sacrifice themselves to save Kari. Kari's Crest reenergizes Agumon and he digivolves to WarGreymon to face Machinedramon. WarGreymon easily destroys Machinedramon with one hit while Machinedramon does no damage to him and at first thought WarGreymon missed him completely.

Joe goes off on his own to find Matt. Angewomon faces off against LadyDevimon, one of Piedmon's servants. Angewomon is nearly destroyed by LadyDevimon, but MegaKabuterimon takes the hit for her and is undamaged due to his hard shell. This gives Angewomon the chance she needs and she destroys LadyDevimon. After LadyDevimon's defeat, Piedmon begins to approach the group. Sora and T.K. go off to try and locate the missing DigiDestined.

Piedmon and WarGreymon battle, although WarGreymon is no match for him. Matt confronts his inner darkness, and so does Sora. Matt returns and makes up with Tai which gives Garurumon the power to heal a badly wounded WarGreymon thanks to Matt and Tai's friendship activating the Crest of Friendship. All of the DigiDestined but Mimi reunite, and both WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon prepare to battle Piedmon the last of the dark masters.

Piedmon reveals his final attack: A white cloth that turns anyone it covers into a keychain. TK, Kari and Angemon are all that's left and Piedmon easily beats Angemon as he's a Mega and Angemon's only a Champion. TK and Kari are sent falling to their deaths, but after imagining what Matt would say while looking at his key-chain (retrieved by Gomamon before he was turned too) T.K. regains his hope and refuses to give up which causes Angemon to Digivolve to MagnaAngemon his Ultimate form. Piedmon proves to be no match for MagnaAngemon and he retrieves and frees their friends. Piedmon summons his army of Vilemon, but Mimi shows up with an army of her own of allied Digimon and Piedmon's forces are defeated. Piedmon is finally destroyed by MagnaAngemon when WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon push Piedmon into MagnaAngemon's attack. However, an e-mail from Gennai explained that the Dark Masters are not the ones responsible for the destruction of the Digital World.

Although the Dark Masters are defeated, it is not enough to stop the complete destruction of the Digital World and the children and Digimon are forced to face the true mastermind of all the chaos: Apocalymon. The evil digimon destroys the Tags and Crests, before deleting the kids and Digimon. They realise that they have no need for the tags and crests, what they needed was inside all along. They reformat themselves and return to confront Apocalymon again.

A battle erupts between the kids and Apocalymon and they prove victorious with WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon mortally wounding him. Apocalymon, as a last desperation, launches his Total Annihilation attack which would destroy both worlds, however the kids determination to win causes their Digivices to contain the blast. Apocalymon is destroyed by his own attack and the world is saved. The Digital World starts to reformat itself back to normal and the DigiDestined prepare to spend the rest of their summer in the Digital World. However, Gennai informs them that they either had to leave quickly, or remain in the Digital World forever. After saying their good-byes to their partners, the kids depart for home on the trolley car they spent their first night in the Digital World on although Tai is sure the portal will open again someday and they'll return.

Digimon Adventure 02 (Anime)

The digital adventure continues 4 years later when Tai finds his way to the Digiworld when Agumon is in serious danger. Three new DigiDestined Davis, Yolei, and Cody, receive their Digivices. Izzy finds a portal to the Digiworld which T.K. and Kari along with Davis use to go help Tai. Patamon and Gatomon reunite with T.K. and Kari. Davis scared Veemon, his partner. Veemon armor digivolves into Flamedramon to fight off a Monochromon being controlled by the evil Digimon Emperor.

The original group (with the exception of Mimi) unite to talk about the recent Digiworld crisis. Davis, Yolei, Cody, Sora, Izzy, T.K. and Kari go to the Digital World. Sora and Izzy reunite with Biyomon and Tentomon. Yolei and Cody meet their partners Hawkmon and Armadillomon who armor digivolve into Halsemon and Digmon. Davis and Veemon get captured by the Digimon Emperor, and the others must save him.

The group travels once again to the DigiWorld only to be attacked by the Digimon Emperor. As they hide from him, T.K. and Kari discover their own digi-eggs, which allow Gatomon and Patamon to armor digivolve into Nefertimon and Pegasusmon.

Gabumon is captured after causing an uprising in a Gazimon village. He escapes and gets badly beaten up. Matt and the rest of the new DigiDestined go to the Digiworld to save him. After a battle with RedVegiemon that cracks the nearby Control Spire, Gabumon digivolves to Garurumon and turns the tide of the battle. The Control Spire is destroyed and everyone it controlled is freed.

Gomamon is now hostage to the Digimon Emperor, so Joe goes with the new DigiDestined to save him. But soon after they come into the Digiworld, Cody gets hurt, and Joe stays to help him. While the others attack the Control Spire, Joe and Cody get attacked by Shellmon and Ebidramon. Digmon defeats and frees Shellmon but is no match for Ebidramon. Luckily, the others destroy the Control Spire in time and Gomamon digivolves to Ikkakumon, frees Digmon and destroys Ebidramon.

Mimi and the new DigiDestined go to have a picnic in the DigiWorld. But Mimi falls into a hole and, along with Yolei, is separated from the rest of the DigiDestined. They meet Palmon, but are then attacked by the Roachmon brothers, who are under the Digimon Emperor's control. After they trick the Roachmon Brothers into cracking the Control Spire Palmon is able to digivolve into Togemon and they defeat the Roachmon Brothers.

After trying to destroy a control spire located in a city, Kari is separated from the rest of the group. Davis and T.K. return to rescue her. Kari eventually manages to free Andromon from the dark ring's control and he destroys the Control Spire.

Davis' soccer team is playing against genius Ken Ichijouji's team. The DigiDestined later find out that he actually is the Digimon Emperor.

Ken runs away from home, preferring to remain in the DigiWorld instead. He captures Agumon, and forces him to dark digivolve, resulting in the uncontrollable SkullGreymon. SkullGreymon ultimately exhausts himself and de-digivolves back to Agumon, but the Emperor gets away with him.

Ken, angry at his inability to control SkullGreymon, works on his Dark Ring. Wormmon, in the hope that Ken might use him in his experiments, frees Agumon. However, as he reunites with Tai, Ken recaptures him with his new Dark Spiral, and makes him dark digivolve into a viral MetalGreymon and attack the DigiDestined.

Just after finding a new digi-egg, the DigiDestined are attacked by Flymon and MetalGreymon, under the control of the Emperor's improved Dark Spiral. Flymon nearly destroys Patamon, but Tentomon manages to find Garurumon who saves him. Davis eventually manage to activate the egg (after confirming his friendship to Veemon). Veemon armor digivolves to Raidramon and he and Garurumon destroy the spiral, freeing Agumon.

Biyomon goes missing and the team (minus T.K. and Kari) ends up in a town straight out of a cowboy film. Starmon, under the control of Ken, puts the DigiDestined in jail, where they find the captured rookie. The girls of the group are promptly freed by Deputymon to go and play cards with him. The boys manage to break out and Veemon digivolves to Flamedramon to fight Starmon. Flamedramon defeats Starmon and sends him flying into the Control Spire, destroying it.

Kari is dragged into a world that is neither the real world nor the DigiWorld. T.K., Gatomon, and Patamon follow her, and together they have to fight Airdramon. Patamon digivolves to Pegasusmon and destroys the Control Spire, but is no match for Airdramon, however destroying the Control Spire allows Gatomon to digivolve to Angewomon and she destroys Airdramon. The creatures that brought Kari there try to capture her and take her to their leader, Dagomon, but Angewomon prevents that and they escape. T.K also tells Kari how much he cares for her and Kari returns the favour.

The new DigiDestined eat at a diner. The owner of the shop, Digitamamon, becomes angry because they do not have any money. Michael and Mimi come into the diner and pay the bill. Later, Digitamamon ends up controlled by a Dark Ring and hurts Mimi. Yolei activates the Digi-Egg of Sincerity armor digivolving Hawkmon to Shurimon (after finally giving Digitamamon the benefit of the doubt and promising to be sincere) to free the ultimate-level.

The DigiDestined travel to a town out of the Japanese Edo period. While fleeing the controlled Floramon and Mushroomon, they meet the ruler, ShogunGekomon. Shortly after, Ninjamon puts a spiral on ShogunGekomon and the DigiDestined must stop the rampaging digimon.

A MegaSeadramon gets the DigiDestined stuck under an oil platform. Cody admits to being afraid of water, so the others force Cody to get help to overcome his fear. He finds Joe, and they come back to save the rest of the group, who found the Digi-egg of Reliability, Cody's second Digi-egg. Cody can't accept the egg because he lied to his grandfather. But thanks to a pep talk from Joe about some lies that can be helpful, Cody overcomes his self doubt and ends up using the Egg. The others are rescued by Joe and a Whamon while Submarimon and Ikkakumon defeat and free MegaSeadramon. At the end, Submarimon gives Cody a tour of the sea.

The DigiDestined, both old and new, come together and hold a memorial for the events that took place three years ago. Meanwhile, the TV Network has problems with their cameras and claim there is a ghost haunting the TV System. All the DigiDestined discover the ghost is really Wizardmon. Wizardmon tells them a cryptic message about how to defeat the Digimon Emperor before vanishing.

The DigiDestined decide to remain in the DigiWorld until they locate Ken's base and so Tai, Matt, and Izzy get Matt's dad to take them on a camping trip to give the others time to complete their task without arousing suspicion. However, it gets complicated when Davis's sister Jun decides to invite herself and decides to follow the group when they leave her behind. Meanwhile Yolei's recklessness causes Hawkmon to be hurt. Kari and Gatomon stay behind with her. Meanwhile, Ken works on creating a Digimon from the body parts of other Digimon.

All of the new DigiDestined (except Davis, who cannot fly to the location) sneak into Ken's base. Ken goes into the Dark Whirlpool, even though Wormmon told him not to. Devimon comes out, and T.K. gets angry because of what he did to Patamon long ago and fights Ken. When Ken escapes T.K., he releases his new Digimon, Kimeramon, on the DigiDestined, and they must flee.

Kimeramon soundly defeats the DigiDestined. Wormmon leads Davis and Veemon to the power source of the base. It turns out to be a golden Digi-egg, which Davis uses to golden armor digivolve Veemon to Magnamon.

Kimeramon and Magnamon fight. Ken's base explodes, and Wormmon gives all the power he has to help Magnamon defeat Kimeramon. Magnamon destroys Kimeramon, and Ken gets upset because Wormmon is dead like his older brother, Sam. Davis finds the Crest of Kindness on the ground and gives it to Ken, and then tells him to go back to his family. The DigiDestined return back to the real world, just as Davis's sister Jun catches up to the camp site where Matt and the others are.

The DigiDestined return to the DigiWorld to help the Digimon with their reconstruction. While there, Davis, in an effort to catch Kari's attention, wants Veemon to digivolve naturally (without an armor digiegg) like Patamon. His effort only manages to anger a Tortomon that chases them across the land. Veemon digivolves to ExVeemon to fight him off.

Ken reminisces about his brother Sam, his digivice, an email he got, and when he first went into the DigiWorld (despite his temporary amnesia in the real world). He goes looking for Wormmon, and finds his baby form, Leafmon, in Primary Village.

Davis, Kari, and T.K. find that their Digimon can't Digivolve naturally anymore, even though the control spires were seemingly eliminated along with the Digimon Emperor. Cody is attacked by Thundermon, leading to Armadillomon's unexpected digivolution into Ankylomon. Ken sees a strange woman in his room that won't tell him her name. The DigiDestined are in doubt when Thundermon is killed by Ken and a mysterious Digimon.

The strange woman changes control spires into Digimon. She turns one into a Golemon who tries to destroy a dam. The DigiDestined cannot destroy Golemon and are forced to get Ken and Stingmon's (Wormmon's Champion form) help to destroy Golemon. After learning about the control spires and that she was wrong about Ken from Palmon who witnessed the truth, Yolei is able to help Hawkmon digivolve into Aquilamon who destroys Golemon.

The DigiDestined see that Ken's base is about to explode. Okuwamon, a Digimon made from 10 control spires, attacks the DigiDestined. Ken comes, and Davis talks about friendship. Suddenly, ExVeemon and Stingmon DNA digivolve to 'Paildramon'.

Paildramon and Okuwamon continue fighting and Paildramon ultimately destroys Okuwamon. Ken puts his crest of kindness into a slot in the base, but it does not do anything. Paildramon destroys the base entirely, and Izzy explains DNA digivolving and the story of how the original DigiDestined gave up the powers of their crests, which is why their Digimon can't digivolve to ultimate level anymore.

The DigiDestined arrive at the giant Giga House, where the strange woman lies in wait. As they draw closer to her, the group is attacked by different kinds of insect digimon. When they find the spider woman, however, she uses her flute to take control of Stingmon and Digmon as well.

Yolei creates a counter to the strange woman's music (because she worked with Matt's band). She transforms into a Digimon called Arukenimon and a fight breaks. As the gang is about to defeat her, another digimon, Mummymon, sweeps in to save her.

While Cody's doubts towards Ken causes Ken to leave the group, Mummymon and Arukenimon combine 100 control spires to create BlackWarGreymon. Even after Yolei brings Ken back to the group so they could form Paildramon, BlackWarGreymon effortlessly defeats the DigiDestined, but refuses to finish the job, and instead leaves Mummymon and Arukenimon, to search for a "worthy opponent."

While searching for Gatomon's tail ring, Yolei, Kari, Ken, and their Digimon stumble into the Dark Ocean. When they are attacked by Blossomon, another of Arukenimon's creations, Gatomon and Aquilamon DNA digivolve into 'Silphymon' (only after Yolei slaps Kari in the face, something Kari did earlier in the episode) and destroys Blossomon, freeing them. However, they do not find the Tail Ring.

BlackWarGreymon has a discussion about life with Agumon. Arukenimon and Mummymon turn their attention to the fabled Destiny Stone, destroying one and somehow causing BlackWarGreymon great pain in the process.

Yolei, while on a school trip, encounters BlackWarGreymon and several other Digimon in the real world after the mega just destroyed a second Destiny Stone. Ken brings her Poromon, who helps her to combat the Digimon until they are suddenly brought back to the Digital World after Yolei and Hawkmon defeat Musyamon and return him there through a laptop.

When BlackWarGreymon destroy the third stone, a Digimon briefly appears and BlackWarGreymon becomes convinced that this is his worthy opponent. At the next site, despite Angemon digivolving to MagnaAngemon after he touches the Stone, the DigiDestined lose the battle, although MagnaAngemon nearly succeeds but fails due to the destruction of the stone and his power source. Gabumon tells the children about Agumon's discussion with their foe.

Cody, worried about T.K., goes to see Matt, who tells him about how T.K. still carries the scars from the battle against Devimon. BlackWarGreymon destroys one of the final two destiny stones.

The DigiDestined head out to eat at another Digitamamon restaurant. Arukenimon and Mummymon are already there, badgering the Digimon to tell them what his soup recipe is. When he refuses, they look for themselves, and discover the final destiny stone in the soup springs. When BlackWarGreymon shows up, Angemon and Ankylomon DNA digivolve into 'Shakkoumon', and the episode ends.

While the DNA digivolved Digimon hold off BlackWarGreymon, Davis gets the idea of moving the last Destiny Stone with the D3s. Instead of moving it, this summons Azulongmon, the Digimon that appeared as earlier destiny stones were destroyed. BlackWarGreymon attacks Azulongmon but quickly is shoved off, and leaves. After explaining many such things as the true purpose of the control spires and armor digivolving, Azulongmon warns the group about their true enemy, the one controlling Arukenimon and Mummymon. Davis sees a control spire in the real world.

As Christmas approaches, the DigiDestined take on a festive mood. Ken goes so far as to throw a party (the first time he was truly happy in a long time). The younger group brings the Digimon partners of the original DigiDestined into the real world. Unfortunately a group of rogue Digimon ruin Matt's concert and both groups of DigiDestined team up to stop it. After most of the Digimon are sent back through Izzy's laptop, Paildramon, Silphymon and Shakkoumon finish the job and the DigiDestined rejoice believing its over. However, their holiday cheer ends when control spires and rampaging Digimon appear worldwide.

The DigiDestined receive one of Azulongmon's Digicores, which results in Paildramon mega digivolving into Imperialdramon, who helps them to join the other DigiDestined worldwide. It also restores the original 8's ability to go to ultimate level. Also, all of the Digimon in Japan are sent back by Ken and Davis who team up after Davis and Raidramon rescue Ken from one of the Digimon, Triceramon.

The Japanese DigiDestined split up. Mimi and Davis team up with the American DigiDestined, while Kari and Izzy go to help those in Hong Kong.

In Australia, Cody and Joe meet with Derek to fight marine Digimon. In Paris, T.K. and Tai receive help from T.K.'s grandfather to save a French DigiDestined held in Versailles.

Ken and Matt help out a Mexican DigiDestined, while Sora and Yolei helped those in Russia and Siberia. Yolei and Sora are successful in Russia, but the conditions in Siberia prove too much for them and they lose. Before anything bad can happen to them, they're rescued by Imperialdramon who returns to bring them home and discovers them in trouble. They all return back to Japan, just in time for Christmas. However, Arukenimon is still up to something.

A new enemy, Daemon, appears, along with his followers. With the aid of Azulongmon's power given up by the older Digimon, Imperialdramon triumphs against SkullSatamon by mode changing into his Fighter Mode thanks to the old DigiDestined Digimon sacrificing their power to go Ultimate and returning to the DigiWorld. Unfortunately, Fighter Mode has no choice but to destroy SkullSatamon, something the new DigiDestined deeply regret.

Yukio Oikawa and his cronies kidnap Ken, and use his Dark Spore to create new ones to implant in gathered children. Meanwhile, Daemon's servants engage the DigiDestined, and, in order to win, the DigiDestined must kill both of them.

Oikawa, having no more use for Ken, attempts to hand him off to Daemon, however, Davis intervenes. The other DigiDestined arrive, and with their help, Ken is able to open a gate to the Dark Ocean and send Daemon through it.

BlackWarGreymon confronts Oikawa, who tells him the truth about his creation. The Digimon tries to destroy Oikawa, but is stopped by both WarGreymon (which was the result of another power boost Agumon received from Azulongmon) and Imperialdramon. After a fierce battle, they plead with BlackWarGreymon to befriend them.

One of the children's Dark Spores grows into a Dark Flower, which is harvested by Oikawa despite the DigiDestined's best efforts to stop him. Cody's grandfather tries to convince Oikawa to give up villainy, but fails. Before Oikawa can kill him, however, BlackWarGreymon takes the fatal blast. The dying mega uses the last remnants of power to seal the digital gate at Highton View Terrace. Also, its revealed that Oikawa is actually possessed by a dark force, one that BlackWarGreymon recognizes but doesn't identify before his death.

Oikawa and the children infected with the Dark Spores try to go to the DigiWorld, but, due to BlackWarGreymon's sealing of the gate, travel to a different world. There, the force possessing him reveals itself and Gatomon realizes who it is when she hears its voice as its one that still haunts her: Myotismon! He is the one behind everything that happened to the new DigiDestined (except for Daemon, whom he seems to dismiss as an amateur). He is reborn as MaloMyotismon using the power of the children's Dark Spores, and destroys Arukenimon and Mummymon out of sheer cruelty.

MaloMyotismon tempts the DigiDestined with illusions of their dreams coming true, but Davis, whose dream was that ExVeemon could grow more powerful to defeat the villain, guides them out. The others follow his example, causing the Digimon to evolve into all their forms at once. Unfortunately, the final attack of all the Digimon blows MaloMyotismon into the DigiWorld where he grows more powerful than ever by absorbing the darkness there. He starts to cover both worlds in darkness.

The six DigiDestined, assisted by DigiDestined all over the world and Oikawa's gathered children, destroy MaloMyotismon by revealing their hopes and dreams which weaken him so much that he becomes a spirit. Everyone gives Imperialdramon Fighter Mode their power and he destroys MaloMyotismon's spirit forever with his Giga Crusher attack. Oikawa is left dying in the dream dimension and uses the power of the dimension to help restore the DigiWorld to its original state. Twenty-five years later, when everyone in the Real World has a Digimon partner, both groups of DigiDestined are grown and their children now hold the responsibility of protecting the worlds.

Digimon Adventure Tri.

In the morning, Tai is woken by his sister, Kari, for practice at Tsukishima General High School with his soccer club. Tai makes it in time for practice and is still energetic after his teammates plead for mercy. Kari brings him something he forgot, extracting payment in the form of sweets from him at the same time, and the sight of a cute girl reinvigorates his team. Later, before class starts, Matt invites Sora to his concert on Sunday. Tai greets them but is called out by his teacher, Daigo Nishijima, for not bringing his career planning form and is told to meet him at lunch.

Distortions start appearing in the sky, and this affects the cell phones of nearby people. At lunch time, Matt invites Tai to the concert of his new band, Knife of Day, but Tai has to decline because he has a soccer match on the same day. At Nishijima's office, Tai and his teacher discuss his future plans. After Nishijima interprets "Tai's friends who live away" as friends who live overseas, he suggests that he study languages.

Tai later invites Izzy to his soccer match, who declines due to his parents' wedding anniversary. They lament the difficulty of getting everyone together in one place, and Izzy decides to text Mimi, who accepts but asks them to cover her airfare from New York; the prices make Tai balk.

On Sunday, Kari tells Tai she can't go to his match because of a friend's birthday, while a news report discusses the mass blackouts that have occurred recently in Kantō. Tai is noticeably despondent. As he leaves, Tai texts Sora asking if she's going to Matt's concert and tells her about his game, backing off at the last minute from asking her to come. He also sees Meiko Mochizuki moving to the same building he lives in.

At Daibacho Ground, Tai's team is prepping for a game when Kuwagamon makes a pass over the field. Tai immediately gives chase as the news begins to report the sighting, which causes T.K. to begin canceling his plans while Matt realizes he can't reach Tai. Kuwagamon leaves a trail of destruction in its wake, and when it catches sight of Tai, begins to attack him. Tai flees, drawing it away from while on his bike, but Kuwagamon eventually catches up by the riverside. At the last moment, Agumon emerges and protects him.

The two have a heartfelt reunion that is interrupted by Kuwagamon, so Agumon digivolves to Greymon and begins to fight in earnest. The fight takes the two to what appears to be the Digital World before ending up in Haneda Airport. The battle leaves Tai behind until he gets a call from Kari about the location. He begins to tell her to head there but stops upon remembering the destruction the fight caused. He is then called to by Nishijima, who is wearing a black suit as opposed to his previous almost causal wear.

Nishijima drives Tai to the airport while providing him with a monitor to watch the ongoing battle, where Greymon is beginning to lose. At the lowest moment, the other DigiDestined appear, all with their partners--save for Mimi, who just landed in Narita Airport, and Joe, who is wandering the streets while depressed. As Greymon degenerates, two more Kuwagamon appear, so the DigiDestined split up into pairs to prevent escape. The two pairs are able to defeat their Kuwagamon targets but Garurumon, fighting alone, is unable to win.

Before Kuwagamon can attack the defenseless team, Alphamon's arm emerges from a portal and drags it back through. In the aftermath, the DigiDestined now begin to question the circumstances, as they all had been herded to the airport by a very professional group, who is also taking care of the post-handling of the matter with the same professionalism. They are then escorted home without answers, though Mimi reveals that she's returning to Japan for a while.

The next morning, the events are being reported on the news with an aura of fear, but Tai and Kari's mom reassures the partner Digimon. Throughout the entire day, the DigiDestined hear about the injuries caused by the battle, including those who wish that all of the monsters would disappear. After school, the DigiDestined meet underneath a bridge to discuss the situation. Izzy begins an update on the situation, including the fact that the gate to the Digital World has been closed for over a year.

During the discussion, Tai updates the group on Nishijima's lack of appearance, and they begin discussing the reaction of the populace to Digimon. Tai says he understands where they're coming from, but the others outright reject blame being placed on their Digimon. Tai's hesitance causes a fight to erupt between him and Matt, and they both leave.

Tai and Matt both end up at Nishijima's office again, where he is actually present. He gives them his business card, on which it is revealed he is an agent for the National Data Processing Bureau of the Incorporated Administrative Agency. He explains that distortions have been forming between the Digital World and their world. These distortions have caused Digimon to emerge, which their agency has been handling until now.

The Digimon are growing too powerful, which is why the DigiDestined were contacted. He reveals that the Digimon, which they call Infected Digimon, have been corrupted by an outside force, causing them to rampage. The source and method of cure both remain unknown, so their only choice is to limit damage by driving them back as soon as possible. When questioned about his knowledge, he admits that the Highton View Terrace and Odaiba incidents spread knowledge but that most of their information came from a person named Gennai. Nishijima then tells them that they may be recruited once more if more Infected Digimon show up. Tai, on the other hand, ruminates while watching the sunset, thinking about the destruction his fighting has caused.

The DigiDestined, save for Matt and Joe, meet the next day at Izzy's office, where he helps out his American friend's firm. Tai updates the others on the Infected Digimon. Izzy then displays his new development: a virtual cyberspace that allows the Digimon to evacuate in a hurry through monitors connected to the internet and also allows them to communicate via text. They decide to meet again on Saturday. At home, T.K. updates a blog that the DigiDestined around the world use to communicate with each other about the Kuwagamon sightings, warning them to be careful.

On Saturday, Izzy, obviously sleep-deprived, presents Tai with a new pair of goggles, designed to be able to see distortions in space, which appear to be where massive amounts of data concentrate. The DigiDestined spend the day searching and then meet Meiko, who is looking for her cat. They help out, and though they fail, they have fun together.

Tai then tells Izzy that the goggles do not have much range, so Mimi suggests going somewhere high. They single out Odaiba's ferris wheel when Matt joins them, and the others force the two into a single car to sort out their differences. They do not get very far into their conversation when Tai then puts on the goggles and sees a massive distortion in the sky.

The distortion triggers an abnormal weather event and forces an evacuation. Alphamon, who Izzy has no information on besides his name, emerges from the portal and sets his sights on Meicoomon, who is the cat Meiko was searching for. Hackmon is also on scene but fades from sight at Alphamon's arrival. Alphamon attacks the two when they reunite, drawing the DigiDestined to the scene. The DigiDestined attack to protect them, but Tai finds himself hesitating due to the collateral damage done. Alphamon makes short work of the Champion-level Digimon, so Matt heads to Tai so they can form Omnimon. Meiko and Meicoomon flee, and Alphamon pursues, ignoring the others.

Matt grows angry at Tai's hesitation, pointing out that his inaction will only cause more destruction as they are the only ones who can do anything. Tai then finds his resolve, and they call forth Omnimon. In response to the threat, Alphamon assumes his Ouryuken form. The Digimon do battle, more or less evenly matched until a powerful strike traps Alphamon's weapon in the ground. Omnimon takes the opportunity to charge a blast, but Tai suddenly flashes back to the destruction they've already caused. Alphamon retreats through a portal right as the blast hits, escaping personal damage while leaving a wide swathe of destruction.

In the aftermath, Himekawa reviews with satisfaction the surveillance photos they've taken of Meiko and Meicoomon, with Nishijima at the site of the battle. Meiko introduces Meicoomon as her partner, revealing her status as a DigiDestined, and is immediately welcomed into the fold. As they observe the destruction, Matt throws one last barb at Tai before walking away.

Mimi organizes a large trip to Ooedo-Onsen Monogatari to welcome Meiko to the team as well as try to help Tai and Matt patch things up. Meiko almost arrives late due to her indecision in what to wear to make a good impression, gaining no help from Meicoomon, while Mimi has to retrieve Tai and Kari herself. When Gomamon arrives, he announces that Joe has declined due to continued studying. They bring their Digimon partners and, despite being told to lay low, get into their usual hijinks while under the supervision of Himekawa, Nishijima, and their organization. Biyomon and Meicoomon accidentally get lost in the men's section of the bath.

While Mimi distracts the men in the dressing room, Sora, Meiko, and Kari rush in to rescue the two. Kari slips and is saved by a mostly naked T.K., and Sora and Meiko find their partners, though not before coming across Tai and Matt. With their trip a success in that Meiko is welcomed into the group, though Tai and Matt remain at odds, they return to their homes.

Tai then arrives with Leomon, who informs them of the terror the infection has unleashed on the Digital World. He decides to aid them as best he can between the worlds. When Tai comes across Matt. Matt confronts him about their previous battle with Alphamon where Omnimon's fusion failed. Matt deduces that the fusion was disrupted by Tai's inner doubts and presses him about it, only for Tai to run off without an answer. Later on at a festival, Tai watches as Gomamon and Palmon battle the Digimon Emperor. After the battle everyone wonders what has happened to Ken to make him take the persona of the Digimon Emperor again. As the fully reunited DigiDestined discuss their next plan, Meicoomon appears to confuse Leomon with his infected form. But much to Tai and the other DigiDestined's horror, she tears Leomon apart. So Tai and the others try to figure what just happen.

Film Appearances

Digimon movie 1

While the DigiDestined are on summer vacation in the real world, Koushiro "Izzy" Izumi discovers a virus on the internet infecting a Digi-Egg. At the same time, Taichi "Tai" Kamiya is trying to apologize to Sora Takenouchi for getting her a hairclip for her birthday in an e-mail. Izzy arrives at Tai's house out of breath, telling Tai about the newly-hatched Digimon. Tai and Izzy use Tai's dad's computer and monitor the Digimon until Gennai appears in a transmission from the Digital World. He sends Agumon and Tentomon to help stop the corrupted Digimon. They put up a good fight until Keramon warp digivolves to Infermon and defeats them.

Tai tries furiously to contact and alert the rest using a phone, but when Infermon begins to dial as many numbers as can be pulled up over the PSTN, Tai's Internet connection is disconnected. Faced with this dilemma, Tai sees a television report on suggestions for the use of the voice mail system as an alternative means of communication over phone lines; using this method, he ends up getting only Yamato "Matt" Ishida and his brother Takeru "T.K." Takaishi, who are on vacation at their grandmother's house in Shimane. They find a computer in a local shop, and ask one of the employees for permission to use it; taking pity, he takes the two and his computer to a barber shop with an Internet connection and upload Gabumon and Patamon onto the net. Infermon digivolves to Diaboromon after Agumon and Gabumon warp digivolve to WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon but then they slow down because of the massive amount of e-mails being sent to Tai and Izzy. Tai slaps the computer and freezes it leaving WarGreymon frozen and defeated.

Diaboromon then starts multiplying and sets up a timer for 10 minutes as he forces the Pentagon to launch a nuclear missile at Tai's neighborhood. WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon wake up and race to defeat Diaboromon, only to find over a million copies of him. Every single copy fires and blasts them until they lie defeated. Tai and Matt mysteriously enter their computers and talk to their Digimon. WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon DNA digivolve to Omnimon who easily defeats all but one Diaboromon. At one minute to go, Diaboromon is still too fast for them to hit, but then Izzy forwards him the e-mails, slowing him like it did to the other Digimon. At the very last second, Diaboromon is destroyed, disabling the missile.

Digimon movie 2

Three months after MaloMyotismon's defeat, the DigiDestined go up against Diaboromon again. Tai and Matt head back to the Internet to deal with him with Omnimon, while the younger DigiDestined go to deal with the rampage of a swarm of Kuramon (Diaboromon's Fresh form). With the help of Angemon and Angewomon (with T.K. and Kari), Omnimon was able to destroy Diaboromon again, but it turned out to be a trap, as his destruction allowed many more Kuramon to go to the Real World. This also trapped Omnimon, Angemon and Angewomon within the internet. Things go out of control when the Kuramon in the Real World merge to create a Mega level called Armageddemon, a more powerful and invincible Mega in Diaboromon's evolutionary line. It is so powerful that neither Omnimon nor Imperialdramon Fighter Mode are able to defeat it on their own even. In the end, Imperialdramon Fighter Mode is injured in Armageddemon's counterattack, so Omnimon lends him his power in the form of the Omni Blade, powering the dragon warrior up to Paladin Mode. Using his Omega Blade attack, Imperialdramon Paladin Mode is able to strike down Armageddemon, splitting his head in half and causing him to revert back into the Kuramon. With the help of the energy from the DigiDestined Digivices and the cell phones from the other kids of Japan, the Omega Blade powers up and sends all of the Kuramon back to the Digital World.

Digimon movie 3

The story involves the next generation of DigiDestined children after they travel from Japan to the U.S.A. and meet up with Willis, helping him to stop the menace of an enigmatic threat. As a kid, Willis was given two twin Digimon, a Gummymon and a Kokomon. But one day Kokomon mysteriously disappeared without a trace, returning later as the ruthless Endigomon (it is later revealed that he was kidnapped and corrupted by a rogue viral program). T.K. and Kari are the first ones to encounter Endigomon in New York City while they are visiting Mimi; he kidnaps Mimi (she disappears before T.K. and Kari's eyes along with the rest of the older DigiDestined and all were placed in another dimension where they were being de-aged by Endigomon). Willis eventually explains his connection to Endigomon and that Endigomon wants to see Willis again, which was why the Digimon kidnapped the older DigiDestined—because they, like him, have Digivices.

But when Willis refused to go with Endigomon after it swiped Terriermon away, the monster evolved to Antylamon, and then Kerpymon, de-aging Willis and the younger DigiDestined as well. Willis figured out that his Digimon's urge for things to go back to the way there were literally meant to make Willis a kid again. In this battle, Kari and T.K. gave Willis and Davis the Golden Digi-Eggs, allowing Veemon and Terriermon to golden armor digivolve to Magnamon Rapidmon, respectively. After the battle, Kerpymon was defeated and the older DigiDestined reappeared at the points were they had disappeared from. In the end, Willis discovered that his Digimon is still alive after the fight, ready to be reborn from a Digi-Egg.

Relationships

Yamato "Matt" Ishida

Matt is a definitive foil for Tai; while Tai is capable of being extremely impulsive and works without thinking, Matt tends to think cautiously about a situation and choose a solution that would be the most practical. This can lead to disputes between the two about whether to take the most logical but not necessarily humane solution, or to go with emotion and choose the idea that seems most empathetic.

During Adventure, the two are on extremely tight terms. They often get into disagreements, which are not helped by Matt's "loner" personality. Tai believed that Matt did not "understand" anything and thinks too much, and that his antisocial ways would not help the team at all. Despite this Tai does on occassion relent to Matt's point of view. When the group needs to get back to Highton View Terrace, Tai repeatedly denies requests to use their money to get food until Matt mentions he wants to as well. The reason for this is possibly because of Matt's practical reasoning as he does point out in this instance that their Digimon wouldn't be able to protect them if they are hungry as opposed to the others complaining. Similarly in the second episode of the series Tai is prepared to explore the beach until Matt says he's staying on the beach for a while because even if they can't phone anyone, someone may be able to call them.

In Adventure 02, Tai and Matt are on a much more likable basis. At one point, Matt punches Tai in order to snap him back to reality, and Tai thanks Matt for doing so. They consider each other to be best friends and attribute this to the fact that they fought a lot when they were younger.

Sora Takenouchi

Sora and Tai had been classmates prior to Adventure and were already friends with each other by the time the series had started. They also played on the same soccer team. Over the course of Adventure, Sora becomes an important person to Tai and the source of his distress when she is kidnapped by Datamon. Sora is also someone whom Tai often relies on, both for her opinion and for her reliability. In the episode in which Agumon digivolved to SkullGreymon, Tai asked Sora if he had gone too far in pushing Agumon to digivolve to Ultimate, and in several episodes Tai asks Sora to take care of certain things for him (for example, watching T.K. and Kari while he and Izzy looked for medicine for Kari, who had fallen ill, and finding Matt when Tai was facing Piedmon). In the beginning of Adventure, Sora often showed concern for Tai's bullheadedness, arguing with him when she thought he was being reckless. As Tai matures as a leader, Sora is more often seen actively supporting his decisions.

In Our War Game, Tai is seen trying to email Sora to apologize for a hairpin he had gotten her that offended her, and is distressed when it seems that the email can't be delivered. He also later confesses to Izzy that he already tried calling Sora many times to apologize, indicating how important it was to him that Sora forgive him.

During Adventure 02, Sora and Tai are slightly detached; they do not hang out in such close proximity as much anymore. Still, Sora remains an important person to Tai and he seems willing to help her when she has problems, such as when she wanted to confess to Matt that she had romantic feelings for him. (In the English version, it is implied that Tai has feelings for Sora; in the Japanese version, however, Tai helps her to confess.)

Koushiro "Izzy" Izumi

During the first season while Tai likes to mock Izzy for carrying his computer around, he does indeed understand Izzy's ability to think through things and process facts. Tai often looks to Izzy as his closest ally in situations (particularly when his relationship with Matt turns sour) such as when Sora is held hostage in Etemon's pyramid, Tai chooses Izzy to accompany him into the pyramid. Tai also looks to Izzy as his immediate partner to accompany him to find medicine when Kari becomes ill. When Tai recognizes Izzy's capacity to figure out the code of the cards to get them back home he admits that Izzy has a better intellect than himself.

Besides Matt, Kari and Sora, Izzy appears to be the closest to Tai, although Tai has punched him twice when angry.

Tai was also the one to invite Izzy to summer camp, since Izzy was in the soccer club.

Mimi Tachikawa

While Tai sees Mimi as a fragile pacifist, he seems to trust in her opinion. Similar to Sora, Tai considers Mimi an important person and valuable to the team. He also occasionally goes to her for solace. Mimi is also the one who cheers him up since he mistakenly forced Agumon to dark digivolve to SkullGreymon, Tai returns the favor by forgiving her actions at the Gekomon palace.

Joe Kida

Tai sees Joe as a source of practical know-how and as someone who can be relied upon to take care of the team.

Takeru "T.K " Takaishi

In the beginning of Adventure, whenever Matt is not around, Tai acts as the missing older-brother figure to T.K. However, as the series progresses, Tai exhibits more of this behavior more often, leading to tensions with Matt.

In Adventure 02, Tai believes T.K. to have grown up enough and thus lets him have his own responsibilities.

Kari Kamiya

As Kari's brother, Tai feels responsibility for Kari's well-being, something that escalated when Tai wanted to play with Kari as a young child and ended up giving her pneumonia. This leads to a paranoia of sorts, as he eventually becomes so overprotective of her that he begins to believe anything should be sacrificed for the sake of his sister.

In Adventure 02, Kari has matured enough so that Tai lessens his mania about Kari, although he still feels protective of her.

Davis Motomiya

To Tai, Davis is his protégé. Since Tai has entrusted taking care of a DigiDestined team to Davis, he passes on his beloved goggles to him as a symbol of such. Tai occasionally oversees everything that Davis does to make sure he's doing it right, and is always willing to offer advice.

Cody Hida

Tai sees Cody as the "straight man" of the group.

Ken Ichijouji

Tai is often willing to assist Ken in times of need and help him get over his stress over having been the Digimon Emperor

Marcus Damon

When the Old Clock Shop Man summons the heroes of the past to the Fusion universe to help take down Quartzmon, Tai and Marcus fight together to help Xros Heart.
