Selected as the lead single from the film's soundtrack in 1996, Someday was recorded by all–male R&B group All-4-One for the North American release.

Lyrics

Someday
When we are wiser
When the world's older
When we have learned
I pray
Someday we may yet live
To live and let live
Someday Life will be fairer
Need will be rarer
And Greed will not pay
God speed
This bright millennium
On its way
Let it come
Someday
Someday
Our fight will be won then
We'll stand in the sun then
That bright afternoon
Till then
On days when the sun is gone
We'll hang on
Wish upon the moon
There are some days dark and bitter
Seems we haven't got a prayer
But a prayer for someday better
Is the one thing we all share
Someday
When we are wiser
When the world's older
When we have learned
I pray
Someday we may yet live
To live and let live
Someday
Life will be fairer
Need will be rarer
Greed wil not pay
God speed
This bright millennium
Let it come
Wish upon the moon
Change will come
One day
Someday
Soon

Trivia

  • A brief chorus of the song is heard after the Humiliation song when a depress Esmeralda apologizes to Quasimodo, and stops the torturing at the festival of fools by helping the poor hunchback as she frees him from his restraints, and openly defies Frollo and states that he's the biggest fool of them all as she throws a crown at him that the hunchback was wearing a few moments ago.
  • This song is only heard in the soundtrack.
  • The song is only sung by Esmeralda in the Disneyland and Disney World Park attractions.
  • The song was originally recorded by American singer and actress Heidi Mollenhauer in her film role as the singing voice of Esmeralda. One out of three recordings, along with "In a Place of Miracles" and "As Long As There's a Moon", it was discarded during the storyboarding process of the film and replaced with "God Help the Outcasts" as directors Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise both wanted a quieter song in scene when Esmeralda sings inside the Notre Dame cathedral.
